Who are Friends of the Library?
Like a healthy diet, strong libraries provide the cultural fiber every community needs to stay in shape. By offering free access to the world through books, media, periodicals, computers, and special events, libraries play an essential role in our lives.
Here in Moorpark, our library is enjoying a resurgence of interest and participation. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donors, Moorpark Friends of the Library have been able to support the presentation of various children’s and teen programs; sponsor events at the annual summer reading club; purchase supplies to assist library staff; and help with purchase of reference materials, publications, special interest collections, and material recommended by the community and staff.
What do Friends of the Library do?
We offer several levels of financial support for your consideration and all contributions are tax deductible. Moorpark Friends of the Library rely upon volunteers to assist with their events
and book sales throughout the year. Any hands-on help is enthusiastically welcomed but not mandatory for members. Members help in many ways both at home and at events. From making phone calls and assisting with promotional / fundraising efforts, to sorting books, helping at book sales, and participating with programs or special projects are just some of the ways members participate.
Because of caring people like you, many thousands of dollars have been raised and endless hours of
work have been donated which result in a better Moorpark City Library. Many opportunities exist to enhance the library through collections and programming and we need your help!
